Another potent contributor to ASCVD that has recently emerged as a compelling treatment target is lipoprotein(a) (Lp[a]), a genetically influenced blood lipoprotein that resembles LDL cholesterol and exerts an independent impact on ASCVD risk. Assessing elevated LDL-C and Lp(a) can aid in more accurate risk assessment and guide personalized treatment strategies to reduce the risk of ASCVD.
