Surgical Instruments Online Course is organized by Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). This course has been approved for a maximum of 1.7 CE credits.

Description:
Recognizing the name and intended use of a surgical instrument promotes a better understanding of the surgical process. This module provides the learner with a foundational knowledge of surgical tools, major instrument categories, and important considerations for instrument trays and specialty surgical instruments.

Objectives:
• Identify instruments and the instrument category to which they belong.
• Describe instrument set assembly considerations, such as type of surgery and patient population.

Outcome:
The learner will have knowledge of common surgical instruments and their use in practice.
