OVERVIEW

Substance and opioid use disorders remain critical public health concerns across the United States, affecting individuals of all demographics. In this 1-hour CME/CE webinar, Dr. Onyejekwe provides a clinically rich and actionable overview of both substance use disorder (SUD) and opioid use disorder (OUD), helping clinicians recognize early signs, reduce prescribing risks, and provide evidence-based treatment strategies.

Participants will explore the definitions, clinical presentations, and behavioral markers of SUD and OUD. The course also addresses the abuse potential of commonly prescribed drugs such as gabapentin and pregabalin. The core focus of the training is on patient-centered care through Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including step-by-step procedures, medications used, and key resources for providers. This program serves as a vital educational stepping stone for providers unfamiliar with MAT protocols.

This course fulfills MATE DEA training requirements and satisfies state-mandated CE topics across controlled substance prescribing, opioid prescribing, substance use disorders, pain management, and behavioral health for physicians, nurses, and physician assistants in over 40 states.
