Silver Diamine Fluoride has been used around the world for decades, but only recently gained FDA approval in the US. Uptake in pediatric dentistry has been swift, but SDF can be used more broadly as a medical management tool for dental caries in patients of all ages. This course is designed for any dental professional wishing to learn about the use of silver diamine fluoride.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Discuss biological background of SDF
  • Identify patient-level and tooth-level indications for SDF use
  • Identify potential problems associated with SDF
  • Describe proper isolation and placement technique
  • Discuss detection of arresting dental caries
  • Discuss reapplication of treatment
