As we enter a new phase of outreach to address COVID-19 vaccine confidence, successful strategies are emerging that can be applied to areas beyond the pandemic. Strengthening relationships between staff, leadership, and communities surrounding PALTC must promote a key, essential element: Trust. What lessons in COVID-19 vaccine confidence on communication, addressing social media misinformation, and addressing inequities truly enhance trustworthiness in PALTC? Which tools may be used to increase staff satisfaction, retention, and, ultimately, superior resident care? An interdisciplinary panel will present their outreach efforts on COVID-19 vaccine confidence and insights on the application to wider aspects of trust in PALTC.
Learning Objectives:
- Define ways in which a lack of trust has challenged COVID-19 vaccine confidence in PALTC settings.
- Identify communication strategies, address social media misinformation and eliminate barriers to COVID-19 vaccination that may be applied to wider aspects of PALTC.
- Design staff outreach strategies that address inequities and engage marginalized communities based on lessons learned from COVID-19 vaccination.
- Propose opportunities to build relationships and trust with PALTC interdisciplinary staff in ways that improve resident care.

CMD: This self-study activity has been pre-approved by the American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (ABPLM) for a total of 1.0 management hours toward certification or recertification as a Certified Medical Director (CMD) in post-acute and long-term care medicine. The CMD program is administered by the ABPLM. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit actually spent on the activity.
ABIM Maintenance of Certification (MOC): Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.0 Medical Knowledge MOC points and patient safety credit in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.
Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
