Description:
Ultrasound guidance for invasive procedures can reduce risks and improve success rates. By the end of this course, you’ll be able to confidently use ultrasound to guide central line placement, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, and more! You’ll also learn how to explain the procedure to your patient, troubleshoot common problems, and document your findings.

After completing this course, you will be able to
• Identify key artifacts that can impact ultrasound guidance for procedures.
• Use the “in plane” and “out of plane” approach.
• Acquire Images in both sagittal and transverse scanning planes.
• Identify normal ultrasound landmarks for guiding central line placement.
• Identify normal ultrasound landmarks for guiding lumbar puncture.
• Identify the ultrasound findings of pleural effusion to guide thoracentesis.
• Identify the ultrasound findings of free fluid in the abdomen to guide paracentesis.
• Discriminate between endotracheal tube placement in the trachea and in the esophagus.
• Master ultrasound transducer sterile technique.
