Pri-Med Cultural Competency in Diagnosing Patients is organized by Pri-Med and will be held during Jun 29, 2015 - Jun 29, 2018.

The target audience for this medical event is Endocrinologists. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Overview :

In the United States, the Latino population has an increased rate of diabetes. This program will review the factors that impact their health and also review effective communication skills to enhance communication and adherence in Latino patients. Using culturally tailored strategies, patient education and community based treatment plans with a multidisciplinary care team will be discussed.

Learning Objectives :

• Review of the demographic, socioeconomic, cultural, and healthcare systems factors that impact the health of Latino patients.
• Develop effective interviewing and communication skills to improve patient-provider communication and enhance adherence in Latino patients.
• Utilize culturally-tailored strategies, including multidisciplinary collaborations, to implement community-based treatment plans and patient education in Latino patients.
