The Simply Speaking HIV Prevention lecture series includes a curriculum that highlights the very latest clinical data utilizing a library of PowerPoint slide presentations developed and approved by key expert physicians and further reviewed and approved by the Planning Committee.

For the past 5 years, the number of persons newly infected with HIV has been consistent at approximately 38,000. But the CDC notes that 1 in 8 of the 1.2 million people living with HIV in the United States are unaware of their HIV status. PrEP (in conjunction with safe sex practices) is a critical part of primary prevention for individuals at high risk for HIV acquisition and tool to meet the HIV elimination targets in the United States. This activity will discuss the lessons learned from demonstration projects and open-label extension studies on approaches to mitigate potential barriers to PrEP uptake, strategies to improve integration of PrEP into existing clinical practices, and approaches to successfully start and maintain patients on PrEP.
