OVERVIEW

Stroke remains a leading cause of long-term disability and death worldwide. Early detection and prevention are critical to minimizing the devastating impact of cerebrovascular events. This CME/CE course provides healthcare professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the latest predictive and diagnostic devices designed to detect stroke onset, assist in stroke subtyping, and manage individual stroke risk. These advancements are reshaping stroke care by integrating digital innovation and remote monitoring into clinical workflows.

The course begins with a survey of wearable technologies—such as smartwatches, biosensors, and AI-enabled patches—that continuously monitor physiological signals like heart rate variability, blood pressure, and atrial fibrillation. These indicators serve as early warning signs for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Participants will review how these tools enable earlier detection of stroke risk and reduce time-to-treatment by alerting providers in real time.

The curriculum then examines advanced stroke recognition and subtyping technologies used in emergency settings and outpatient neurology. These include mobile imaging systems, handheld EEG devices, and app-based neurological assessment tools designed to differentiate between ischemic, hemorrhagic, and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) with greater speed and accuracy.
