OVERVIEW

Pillars of Change: An Expert Appraisal of Evidence-driven Approaches for Diagnosing, Evaluating, and Treating IDA in the OB/GYN Clinic is organized by American Academy of CME, Inc.., Cornerstone Medical Education.

Released: 8/18/2023
Expires: 8/18/2024

Activity Description:
This microlearning webinar will equip learners with expert insights into the totality of IDA management in women’s health, beginning with utilizing serum ferritin and TSAT for diagnosis and evaluation, and concluding with evidence-based treatment with iron supplementation. A comprehensive review of clinical trial data for IV iron in the women’s health setting will be provided and will be framed by a focused discussion on the nanocolloidal design and improved safety profiles of next-generation products. The relative clinical utility and paradigmatic placement of IV iron vs. oral iron will be emphasized throughout.

Learning Objectives
After participating in the activity, learners should be better able to:
Evaluate the fundamental utility of serum ferritin and transferrin saturation (TSAT) as routine IDA diagnostic parameters, and make important distinctions between absolute and functional IDA.
Summarize the clinical trial evidentiary base investigating IV iron as an IDA treatment option in women’s health, emphasizing its differential clinical utility relative to oral iron.
Using an animated whiteboard, illustrate the mechanism of action, nanocolloidal drug design, and vastly improved safety profile of next-generation IV iron products.
