Description:
This course for the interdisciplinary health care team (RN, MD, APP) provides a review of the clinical pathways for the diagnosis, evaluation, treatment, and management of pediatric malnutrition. The course also includes case study presentations and discussion on diagnostic and treatment considerations for pediatric malnutrition from a nutrition and gastroenterology lens.

Learner Outcomes:
As a result of this activity, learners will be able to report new knowledge related to malnutrition in order to provide current, evidence-based care to pediatric patients.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the standardized criteria for diagnosing pediatric malnutrition
  • Differentiate between malnutrition and appropriate or expected growth
  • Identify diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in common clinical scenarios of pediatric malnutrition
