Course Expiration: 12/31/2025
Statement of Need:
Research into the biomechanical influences of head injury are rapidly changing such that not all osteopathic physicians may be aware of the application of osteopathic manipulation for head injury. This course will improve knowledge and osteopathic patient care.
Course Description:
Osteopathic treatment of concussions has not been well-defined, documented, or taught, but there is a great need for same.[1] This course is an early effort to teach Osteopathic palpatory diagnosis and treatment of mTBI. This is an advanced course requiring a prerequisite of at least two OCA-qualified introductory courses in Osteopathy in the Cranial Field plus five years of clinical practice in OMM. This course is a minimal but essential approach to treatment of mTBI. We are combining what the co-directors presently use in their respective practices for mTBI patients.
