Osteoarthritis - Integrative Holistic Treatment is organized by Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine (AIHM).
Description:
This presentation will begin with an overview of various dietary supplements supported by evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for symptom relief in osteoarthritis. Key supplements discussed will include glucosamine, chondroitin, SAMe, avocado-soybean unsaponifiables, Boswellia, curcumin, Cyplexinol®, Devil's claw, Limbrel®, Pycnogenol®, type II collagen, and more. The safety profile of glucosamine and chondroitin will be examined in detail. The presentation will conclude with a review of complementary treatment modalities that may benefit those with osteoarthritis, including acupuncture, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, tai chi, and other approaches.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Discuss dietary supplements with RCT evidence of efficacy in treating osteoarthritis.
- Explain complementary modalities of treatment with RCT evidence of efficacy in osteoarthritis treatment.
- Discuss the safety profile of glucosamine and chondroitin
