This online course is based on the key recommendations from the SOGC guidelines. The aim of this program is to provide increased knowledge and skills for practitioners who provide care to women who use opioids.  Increased practitioner awareness of and confidence in supporting informed decision-making with women about their opioid use may be associated with improvements in health outcomes. To address the complexities of opioid-use in women’s health, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) has developed evidence-based guidelines with areas of focus including usage and safety; caring for women who use opioids; stigma, screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment; impact on hormonal regulation; reproductive health including contraception and fertility; sexual function; effects on perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms; use in chronic pelvic pain syndromes; and opioids in pregnancy and in the postnatal period.
