OVERVIEW

Opioid Use Disorders and Treatments is organized by California Society of Addiction Medicine (CSAM) and will be held during Sep 22, 2016 - Sep 21, 2018.

The target audience for this medical event is Addiction medicine specialists who want an overview of the latest developments in the field and their relevance to clinical practice, Primary care clinicians who want to get a better understanding of addiction and manage patients with addictions in their practice, Public health officials who want an understanding of the current state of addiction treatment, Non-physicians who are involved in the treatment of addiction. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Conference Objectives are :
• Epidemiology of opioid addiction, focusing on prevalence and any emerging patterns, demographics/socio-cultural factors of addicted populations, heroin vs po opioid addiction epidemiology.
• Medical Assessment and Diagnosis; DSM 5 criteria for opioid use disorders, physical signs of intoxication and withdrawal, sequelae of chronic use, medical emergencies (od, drug-drug interactions).
• Management: Pharmacotherapy. Include management of withdrawal and detox as well as maintenance treatments; methadone, suboxone, non-opioid detox regimens, maintenance therapy with agonists, maintenance therapy with antagonists, complementary and alternative health approaches.
