Description:
This module is the third of 11 modules in the Nutrition Related Care in Paediatric Diabetes Evergreen course. The aim of this module is to review mental and emotional health of children and adolescents living with diabetes. We will review the impact of diabetes diagnosis on the person living with diabetes and their family, carers and siblings. We also discuss emotional health screening tools and how to support children and adolescents living with diabetes and their carers.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Describe the impact of a diabetes diagnosis on the child/adolescent and their family, including parents/carers and siblings
  • Recognize the importance of providing psychosocial support to children/adolescents and their families
  • Identify emotional health screening tools and supports available to children/adolescents and their families
