Description:
This module is the tenth of 11 modules in the Nutrition Related Care in Paediatric Diabetes Evergreen course. The aim of this module is to review the nutritional considerations and management of diabetes-related comorbidities in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes, including coeliac disease, eating disorders and disordered eating behaviour, dyslipidaemia and factors that contribute to excess weight gain.

Learning Outcomes:

• Explain the additional nutritional considerations for children and adolescents with coeliac disease and type 1 diabetes
• Identify the increased prevalence of disordered eating in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes
• Describe methods for identification of eating disorders and disordered eating in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes
• Describe considerations for managing disordered eating in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes
• Identify factors that can contribute to excess weight gain in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes
• Describe the nutritional management of dyslipidaemia in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes
