Description:
Essential to nursing skills is the ability to assess and care for patients with conditions related to the gastrointestinal (GI) system including the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, anus, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. This course will review common gastrointestinal conditions, including GERD, nausea/vomiting, obstructions, GI bleeds and peritonitis.  Assessment techniques and nursing interventions will be presented with knowledge checks to validate important learning points.
