OVERVIEW

Next Level Endodontics: Endodontic Diagnosis is organized by Dentaltown, L.L.C.

Released: 06/01/2016
Expiration Date: 06/30/2028

Overview:
Success of an endodontic procedure involves accurately identifying and managing odontogenic pain and/or pathology. Diagnosis is the first step on the road to success. Although the diagnostic tools available to us remain crude and unchanged for years, if performed sequentially and correctly, a fairly reliable assessment whether and where an endodontic intervention is necessary can be obtained.

This presentation will review how to acquire a comprehensive history from the patient and systematically conduct diagnostic tests in order to arrive at an accurate diagnosis. The physiology of pulpal and periradicular pathosis will be detailed, which will aid in interpreting clinical manifestations of pulpal disease and hence assist in the diagnostic process.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Understand the science behind the pathophysiology of pulpal disease.
  • Understand the mechanisms that cause and exacerbate pain during pulpitis
  • List the steps that help in achieving an accurate endodontic diagnosis.
  • Ask the patient objective questions to help in the diagnostic process.
  • Describe sequentially the objective tests available to us in clinic to arrive to a definitive diagnosis.
