Session Summary:
As part of the transformation of health care, demonstration of the quality and value of services rendered to patients will become a more integral part in determining how healthcare systems are incentivized and paid. Pharmacists and administrators will need to demonstrate the impact of psychiatric pharmacy services in multiple areas (e.g. economic, clinical, humanistic) and apply effective strategies for psychiatric pharmacists to serve as a necessary member of integrated healthcare teams that provide services to patients with psychiatric and/or neurologic disorders in both primary care and specialty settings. This program will provide attendees with a broad overview of how to establish structures and develop processes that document and improve quality and outcomes that matter most to payers and patients.

Learning Objectives:
• Understand the current health policy context accelerating the demand for increasing quality and efficiency and improvement of population health (the “Triple Aim”).
• Review how quality measures are developed, selected and applied in the context of the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare Reform.
• Describe models and strategies for effectively integrating general medical and behavioral health care including collaborative care and measurement-based care models that can incorporate pharmacy services.
• Recognize how quality and outcomes measurement can be used to make decisions about individual care as well as demonstrate quality and value of services.
