Module 1: Building Trust With Lgbt Clients

Module 2: Outcompetent - Cultural Competency and the Stigmatization of Stds, Hiv, Prep, and Mental Health
Activity Length: The estimated time to complete this activity is 1.25 hours.
This module will discuss the impact of stigma in STDs, HIV, PrEP, and mental health that LGBT individuals face when accessing healthcare. The module also will equip attendees to effectively engage LGBT individuals who seek care in the areas of STDs, HIV, PrEP, and mental health.

Target Audience:
The program has been designed to meet the educational needs of clinical providers (Medical Doctors, Doctors of Osteopathy, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants) and other allied healthcare professionals who treat and care for LGBT patients.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
• Explain how stigma around STDs, HIV, and PrEP is associated with negative health outcomes for LGBT individuals.
• Discuss how services for LGBT individuals need to be grounded in affirmative and inclusive approaches to care.
• Identify 3 ways that providers and social services organizations can infuse LGBTQ cultural competency into their services in order to best meet the needs of LGBTQ individuals

Module 3: Healthcare Stigma Facing Transgender Individuals: From Access to Policy and Care to Treatment
Activity Length: The estimated time to complete this activity is 1.5 hours.
This module covers the impact of stigma on transgender individuals in healthcare settings. The module also will equip attendees to effectively engage transgender individuals who seek care

Target Audience:
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians and other health care providers involved in the care of patients with HIV.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
• Explain the importance of cultural competency on LGBTQ health outcomes.
• Identify requirements for a minimal level of training relevant to LGBTQ communities.
•Describe best practices in HIV prevention and care for Transgender individuals.
