This class provides an overview to Motivational Interviewing in treatment to elicit change…. We will define characteristics, and risk factors with a focus on reasons why a client may be so resistant to change…Professionals will explore and discuss

The 5 components of MI:
• Show empathy by reflective listening.
• Develop discrepancy between behavior and goals.
• Avoid direct confrontation and arguments.ContentImageHandler.ashx
• Adjust to resistance instead of opposing it.
• Support optimism and self-efficacy.

This class will be interactive using examples of MI to explore change and develop personal style.
