Description:
This learning module is one of a series of four modules produced in conjunction with California BRIDGE. The goal of this series is to educate inpatient physicians on the identification, treatment, and follow-up needs of patients with opioid use disorder. Interdisciplinary treatment of substance use disorders is critical for proper care delivery. A very important aspect of this is the role of the Substance Use Navigator. The goal of the course is to describe that role for other team members and to train new substance use navigators on what is involved with their position. This will be performed via a presentation that incorporates basic information along with case examples.

Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, learners should be able to:
•  Describe what a substance use navigator is
•  List four roles a substance use navigator plays on the treatment team
•  Explain what SBIRT means
•  Understand the different types of patients with substance use disorders
•  Describe the common challenges faced when assessing patients with substance use disorders.
