Course Description:
This module provides a detailed description of the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role. It begins with an overview of the role, then provides information on key areas of responsibility including identifying and interacting with thought leaders, managing a territory, gathering competitive intelligence, supporting the product lifecycle, utilizing appropriate systems, understanding evaluation metrics, and finally describing a career path.

Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this CME webcast, learners should be able to:

  • Identify the primary purpose of the MSL position, including functions it serves, primary responsibilities, and activities
  • Outline key factors in successful thought leader interactions including tiering
  • Define competitive intelligence and how MSLs do it as part of their role
  • Identify considerations for successful territory management, including credentialing
  • Identify how MSLs support the product lifecycle, their focus during each stage, and key MSL activities during that stage
  • List tracking systems that MSLs use in their work
