Overview:
The goal for this class is to increase the safety of patients and improve their outcomes by giving an overview of the security issues present in healthcare in the present, with information on statistics and the scope of the issue and the need for error reduction, prevention, and analysis of root causes. This course contains information related to five of the most frequently misdiagnosed ailments during the previous biennium that the Florida Board identified.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion, participants should be better able to:
• Find out the top frequently missed-diagnosed illnesses during the last period as identified through the Florida Board of Medicine.
• Define the procedure and the value of analysis to determine root causes.
• Address error-prone circumstances to develop secure systems of care that can be used to reduce errors or prevent methods.
• Identify system and cognitive factors that can cause diagnostic errors.
• Discuss the impact of electronic medical records (EMR) on medical mistakes during hospitalizations and the importance of EMR in protecting patients.
• Adopt Baptist Health policies and procedures to report medical errors and adverse circumstances.
