HCM is a chronic, progressive disease with diverse clinical presentations. HCM remains under-recognized and often goes undiagnosed. Patients with HCM are at enhanced risk of arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation (AF), stroke, and rare but devastating sudden cardiac death. Specifically, AF can occur in up to 33% of patients with HCM, a marked increase compared to the general population. AF is also a chronic condition inflicting more than 2.7 million adults in the U.S. alone. Symptomatic AF results in reduced quality of life and increased burden. Patients with AF are at increased risk of stroke and exhibit higher mortality rates than patients without AF. This webinar is to support clinicians in the patient management of HCM and their elevated risk for arrhythmias, including AF.
