OVERVIEW

The Guthy-Jackson Charitable Foundation (GJCF) NMOSD Grand Rounds program aims to inform practicing neurology specialists as well as the broader spectrum of neurologists and allied healthcare providers regarding the latest information in evidence-based science and medicine of NMOSD. This program features 12 essential topics addressed by experts in the field at a monthly interval. Organized and curated by GJCF advisors, this series of educational webinars enables continuing medical education (CME) credit.

The session entitled “Managing Day-to-Day Non-Relapse Symptoms” is designed to update knowledge important for understanding acute and chronic symptoms associated with NMOSD but independent from relapse episodes. Included in the discussion are recognition, assessment, and management (medical and physical therapy) interventions that may benefit patients’ health and well-being. Specific topics include pain, musculoskeletal optimization, and lifestyle strategies for mitigating the impact of NMOSD-related effects.

Educational Objectives:
After completing this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Learn the most common non-relapse symptoms in NMOSD.
  2. Learn about the practical symptomatic medications used in NMOSD.
  3. Learn about the different neuromodulation techniques that can help NMOSD patients.
