Overview/Summary:
Liver Disease and the Older Patient is an not uncommon scenario seen in both office-based and inpatient clinical practice. In Dr. Appelbaum’s second presentation, he discusses a comprehensive approach when encountering elevated liver biochemical tests in older patients and sheds light on a rapidly growing and potentially life-threatening condition known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). By utilizing a case-based approach, Dr. Appelbaum uses real life examples to engage program participants and explain the pathology, consequences and treatment of older patients with NAFLD and elevated liver biochemical tests.
