Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fastest-increasing cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. While the incidence of HCC has slowed in urban areas in recent years, it continues to rise in rural areas. Patients with HCC living in rural and underserved communities are diagnosed at a later stage and are less likely to receive treatment. They also face unique challenges to care such as shortages of oncology specialists, limited treatment availability, and transportation barriers. In this CME/CE activity, expert faculty will review risk factors for HCC and current recommendations for screening and surveillance. Evidence-based guidelines for HCC treatment and strategies to improve multidisciplinary cancer care in rural and underserved settings will also be discussed.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
• Apply clinical guidelines for HCC surveillance to clinical practice
• Assess the safety and efficacy of available therapies for HCC to effectively counsel patients requiring HCC care
• Discuss the role of multidisciplinary care in improving outcomes in patients with HCC
