JDRF PEAK: Fundamentals of Exercise Physiology and T1D is organized by Med-IQ and will be held from Jun 20, 2018 - Jun 19, 2019.
The target audience for this medical event is the healthcare team caring for those living with type 1 diabetes, including diabetologists, adult and pediatric endocrinologists, primary care physicians, endocrinology advanced practice providers, pharmacists, nurses, dietitians, CDEs, and other healthcare professionals. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
Course Description:
In this activity, Drs. Riddell and Gallen discuss the hormonal and metabolic response to various types of exercise and how those responses are different in the presence of type 1 diabetes. This program also explores the relationship between exercise and hyper- and hypoglycemia, as well as strategies for mitigating dysglycemia.
Course Objectives:
• Describe the hormonal and metabolic responses to various types of exercise
• Illustrate the mechanisms for the maintenance of euglycemia as well as causes for hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia during and after exercise
