Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) affects every facet of a patient’s life. For many years, symptoms were largely ignored or dismissed by the urology community, with most patients experiencing symptoms for years and seeing multiple providers before being diagnosed. Healthcare professionals working in conjunction with advocacy groups play a key role in educating the public and ensuring accurate diagnosis and treatment of this disease. This educational activity will address the assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based management of the condition.
Conference Objectives are :
The goal of this interstitial cystitis continuing education program is to update healthcare professionals’ knowledge of the identification and treatment of interstitial cystitis.
After studying the information presented here, you will be able to:
• Describe the prevalence of interstitial cystitis
• List the hallmark symptoms of interstitial cystitis
• Describe five treatment modalities recommended by the American Urology Association
