Understanding the intricate relationships between genes, metabolites, and dietary choices is paramount to delivering personalized nutrition guidance. This introductory course covers nutritional genomics, microbiomics, and other omics sciences to help clinicians understand the value and impact that these applications have for tailoring interventions for improved patient outcomes.

Participants will:
• Describe how the fields of nutritional genomics and microbiomics are informing personalized nutrition research and practice
• Identify major processes involved in modulating gene expression
• Describe the relationships between various omics sciences and how they pertain to the science & practice of personalized nutrition
• Understand the nutritional impact of clinically relevant SNPs
• Distinguish factors that beneficially or negatively influence microbial diversity
