Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, participants will be able to:
• Define Hospital-acquired Pneumonia (HAP) and Ventilator-associated Pneumonia (VAP)
• Discuss etiology and pathogenesis of HAP/VAP
• Evaluate diagnostic considerations of HAP/VAP
• Discuss current treatment guidelines for HAP/VAP
• Review the clinical utility of rapid diagnostics for the diagnosis of bacteremia
• Review recent randomized controlled trials surrounding bacteremia and how it is applied to current clinical practice
• Describe the appropriate time to switch from intravenous to oral antibiotics for bacteremia.
