Overview :
Globally, human papilloma viruses (HPV) are responsible for virtually 100% of cervical cancers, 75% of vaginal cancers, 69% of vulvar cancers, 91% of anal cancers, 63% of penile cancers, approximately 70% of oropharyngeal cancers, and almost all cases of genital warts. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) has recently updated its recommendations for the immunization of males and females against HPV-related diseases. This activity provides an update on the prevention of HPV and the associated cancers.
Learning Objectives :
• Assess the burden of HPV infection
• Identify HPV serotypes associated with particular cancers
• Apply preventive strategies to reduce the prevalence of HPV-related diseases
