This program on HIPAA Privacy and Security Essentials covers the key provisions of this complex law, and it addresses common vulnerabilities in healthcare practices and organizations that result in HIPAA breaches. Best practices are identified that might mitigate the risk of breaches, and understanding how to respond to incidents and breaches is presented. Fines and penalties for noncompliance are discussed as well as HIPAA considerations for electronic communications. Strategies to reduce the incidence and impact of cyberattacks and ransomware are also included in the program.
