High Tibial Osteotomy: How to Get it Right and Avoid Complications (Case-based lecture) is organized by American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM).

Course Description:
This course will review knee malalignment with a special focus on coronal plane and sagittal plane alignment. Indications for proximal tibia osteotomies and distal femur osteotomies will be discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of closing wedge and opening wedge osteotomies will be examined in a case-based discussion with special attention to the tibial slope and associated procedures (ACL, cartilage surgeries, meniscus transplant, etc.). Surgical techniques for osteotomies will be presented in a case-based format.

Learning Objectives:
• Understanding the natural history and pathology of sagittal and coronal malalignment of the knee.
• Making a correct diagnosis of knee malalignment and associated conditions (ACL, cartilage injuries) with the help of clinical and radiological examination.
• Recognizing the role of the open wedge, closed wedge, tibial, and femoral osteotomy. This will guide the attendant in choosing the proper procedure.
• Provide updated data on how to treat the condition with patient-specific instrument (PSI) and their related complications.
• Be aware of each operation's complications, ranging from simple to complex osteotomies.
