Description:
Refresher Courses are sessions captured at past RSNA Annual Meetings focusing on themes of health care reform, payment models, research and innovation, patient-centered radiology, and advances in the different imaging modalities. Refresher Courses are targeted to diagnostic, interventional and oncologic radiologists and are designed to improve knowledge and competence in responding to the challenges and advancements in the field of radiology. Most courses include an audio-visual presentation, as well as a corresponding transcript.

Learning Objectives:
• Demonstrate how radiological interpretation of pre-treatment and post-treatment imaging studies influences the management of patients with head and neck cancer.
• Support radiologists with the tools to access CT and MRI imaging for head and neck cancer.
• Explain how to address the images in a manner that will assist the ENT surgeon for staging and surgical planning.
• Recognize the principles for critical thinking and analysis as well as preparation and skill development for a head and neck tumor board.
• Describe applications for FDG-PET/CT for initial evaluation and follow up of patients with head and neck cancer.
• Recognize the value of combining metabolic findings on FDG-PET findings with morphology on CT and endoscopic appearance.
• Demonstrate potential etiologies of false positive and false negative studies.
• Recognize the value of multidisciplinary approaches for managing patients with head and neck cancer.
