Head and Neck Pathology: Start to Finish is organized by United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) and will be held from Nov 15, 2017 - Jun 23, 2020.

Target Audience:
Practicing academic and community pathologists, and pathologists-in-training

Continuing Medical Education and Continuing Certification:
The United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology designates this enduring material for a maximum of 11.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

The USCAP is approved by the American Board of Pathology (ABP) to offer Self-Assessment credits (SAMs) for the purpose of meeting the ABP requirements for Continuous Certification (CC). Registrants must take and pass the post-test in order to claim SAMs credit. Physicians can earn a maximum of 11.5 SAM credit hours.

Course Description:
The complexities of the head and neck region create a unique set of difficulties for pathologists, particularly if they are neuroendocrine specimens handled by general pathologists who do not see a high volume of these cases. The subtleties in the spectrum of their presentation in the context of differential diagnostic alternatives create a professional practice gap that can be closed by personalized, mentoring instruction with experts at multi-head microscopes. This course reinforces diagnostic cognitive strategies and underscores the pathologist as an integral player in the multidisciplinary team responsible for correct diagnosis and assignment to therapy. 

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this educational activity, learners will be able to:
• Understand the significant FNA findings to meaningfully distinguish salivary gland tumors
• Apply clinically relevant criteria to separate oral inflammatory lesions
• Use the new and correct terminology for thyroid neoplasms, with attention to outcome differences
• Apply sequential, targeted and limited immunohistochemistry studies to distinguish sinonasal tract tumors
• Develop reproducible histologic criteria for tumor and dysplasia grading of head and neck neoplasms
