Description:
HCC in the Real World: Evolving Paradigms for High-Risk Patients is a CME activity designed for US-based medical oncologists, gastrointestinal oncologists, hepatologists, gastroenterologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment and collaborative management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This educational initiative focuses on the evolving role of frontline immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-based therapies, with emphasis on applying recent prospective data in higher-risk patient populations. Learners will enhance their ability to integrate liver reserve assessment with tumor burden and mortality risk to individualize treatment selection and monitoring, while also strengthening shared decision-making strategies that incorporate patient-specific clinical and functional factors to optimize frontline ICI therapy outcomes in HCC.

Learning Objectives:
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Evaluate recent prospective data on safety and efficacy of frontline immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-containing regimens in higher risk HCC populations
  • Apply liver reserve assessment strategies, integrated with tumor burden and mortality risk evaluation across HCC presentations to personalize frontline ICI-based therapy selection and monitoring
  • Implement effective shared decision-making practices for the selection of frontline ICI-containing therapy in HCC, integrating patient-specific factors, such as tumor-driven and comorbidity-driven functional limitations.
