OVERVIEW

Gynecologic Cancer-Refresher 2017 is organized by American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and will be held from Sep 14, 2017 - Sep 13, 2020.

The target audience for this medical event is radiation oncologists and radiation oncology residents. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Course Description:
The first gynecologic cancer session, Updates in Endometrial Cancer will review the use of new clinical paradigms including the use of nomogram assessment to assist with medical decision making; the utilization of Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) and complex 3-D conformal radiation using image-guided techniques. Knowledge of treatment paradigms with radiation and chemotherapy is critical for the treatment of GYN cancer patients. The dedicated teaching of the relevant concepts and literature will help to maximize local control and minimize complications. The use of CT and MR-based brachytherapy planning has led to the need to define a dose specification target volume along with the organs at risk.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of Updates in Endometrial Cancer, participants should be able to:
• Discuss the standard therapeutic approach to endometrial cancer patients most commonly encountered in a radiation oncology clinic.
• Articulate the radiobiological and physical principles that inform current clinical therapeutic paradigms.
• Discuss current state of the art vaginal brachytherapy.

Upon completion of Updates in Cervical Cancer, participants should be able to:
• Apply nomograms for GYN cancers during patient consultations in order to provide more accurate prognostic information to patients.
• Identify the importance of image-guided brachytherapy.
• Discuss IMRT appropriately and understand indications for IMRT.

Additional details will be posted as soon as they are available.
