This activity will discuss the process by which drug tracing occurs to improve the detection and removal of potentially dangerous drugs from the drug supply chain and the federal laws that established the penalties for submitting fraudulent claims to federally funded health care programs.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

• Recognize the legal definitions associated with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act
• List the specific steps a pharmacy must follow to be in compliance with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act
• List the exclusions for participation in federal health care programs recognized by the Office of Inspector General (OIG)
• Identify the effects of being on the OIG’s exclusion list, how to determine whether an entity is excluded, and the penalties for violations of exclusions.
