Evaluating and Treating Dyslipidemia in the Cardiometabolic Syndrome is organized by Baptist Health South Florida and would be held during Mar 03, 2017 - Feb 15, 2019.
Target Audience:
Cardiologists, Endocrinologists, Family Physicians, General Internists, Physician Assistants, Nurses and Nurse Practitioners, as well as other interested healthcare professionals.This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.
Cardiometabolic syndrome is a constellation of metabolic disorders characterized by insulin resistance and impaired glucose tolerance, atherogenic dyslipidemia, hypertension and intra-abdominal adiposity (IAA). The components of this syndrome individually and interdependently are strong risk factors for high cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. This course will provide an overview of the components of metabolic syndrome, as well as evidence-based recommendations for adequate management.
Learning Objectives:
• Identify the components of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and recognize the typical lipid profile.
• Review the general principles of the various lipid guidelines.
• Implement evidence-based recommendations for non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic lipid therapies in MetS.
• Assess recent evidence for lipid intervention beyond statins.
