System-wide online training course covering anesthesia standards for patient care when non-anesthesiologists are administering sedatives and analgesics in any setting with the intent to complete a diagnostic or therapeutic procedure. This course provides an overview of the principles of moderate sedation, including indications and contra-indications, accepted medications, and administration guidelines. This training aligns with the latest ASA guidelines and ensures compliance to the standards set by the Joint Commission.

Objectives:

• Apply knowledge to recognize the indications and contraindications of moderate sedation.
• Select the appropriate monitoring techniques and requirements for patients experiencing moderate sedation.
• Assess and explain the necessity for baseline and frequent assessments of patients experiencing moderate sedation.
• Identify medications frequently used for moderate sedation, administration guidelines, and potential complications/side-effects.
• Manage expected and unexpected outcomes of moderate sedation.
