OVERVIEW

ENDURING Physician and Healthcare Team CME Webcast - Anti-Amyloid Therapies for Alzheimer's Disease; Zoran M. Grujic, MD is organized by Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine - Office of Continuing Medical Education.

Start Date: September 12, 2025
End Date: September 11, 2028

Description:
A webinar providing educational updates on medications, vaccines, clinical guidelines, and therapeutics- related topics for RMG providers.

Objectives:

  • Describe the mechanism of action, clinical efficacy, and patient selection criteria for anti-amyloid monoclonal antibody therapies in early symptomatic Alzheimer’s disease. This includes understanding the biological rationale for targeting amyloid-ß, the magnitude of clinical benefit observed in phase 3 trials (e.g., lecanemab and donanemab), and the criteria for appropriate patient selection, such as biomarker confirmation of amyloid pathology and exclusion of moderate/severe dementia.
  • Recognize and manage the unique safety considerations and adverse effects associated with anti-amyloid infusion therapies, including amyloid-related imaging abnormalities (ARIA) and infusion reactions. Clinicians should be able to identify risk factors (e.g., APOE e4 homozygosity), implement appropriate MRI surveillance protocols, and manage both asymptomatic and symptomatic ARIA, as well as infusion-related events.
  • Assess and integrate anti-amyloid infusion therapies into clinical practice by understanding logistical requirements, multidisciplinary care models, and ongoing challenges in real-world implementation.
