Refresher Courses are sessions captured at past RSNA Annual Meetings focusing on themes of health care reform, payment models, research and innovation, patient-centered radiology, and advances in the different imaging modalities. Refresher Courses are targeted at diagnostic, interventional, and oncologic radiologists and are designed to improve knowledge and competence in responding to the challenges and advancements in the field of radiology. Most courses include an audio-visual presentation, as well as a corresponding transcript.

Learning Objectives:
• Review the value of FDG and amyloid PET/CT, MR imaging, and tau PET/CT in the diagnosis of dementia.
• Identify which FDA-approved MR techniques are currently available for improving differential diagnosis in patients with dementia.
• Extend basic knowledge of how MR results correspond to clinical dementia phenotypes.
• Discuss recent technological advances including applications of dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) MR, arterial spin labeling (ASL), and resting state functional • connectivity MRI (rs-fcMRI) in the setting of patients with dementia.
• Describe the basic science principles behind tau PET/CT imaging.
• Recognize the utility of tau PET/CT imaging in neurodegenerative disease.
• Identify the findings of a positive tau PET/CT scan.
• Recognize the Parkinsonian Syndrome entities and their clinical features.
• Analyze the role and efficacy of I-123 Ioflupane Brain SPECT in the diagnosis and management of PS.
• Distinguish the essential steps of proper exam preparation and acquisition.
• Identify the interpretation criteria for I-123 Ioflupane Brain SPECT and potential pitfalls.
