Course Description:
Electronic health record (EHR) systems have become commonplace in healthcare organizations. Although physicians, dentists, and other healthcare professionals have seen the benefits of these systems, they also have noted numerous challenges with EHR functions, capabilities, and overall effect. Similarly, EHRs have presented new issues in relation to malpractice liability.

• Understand how poor documentation practices in EHRs can contribute to patient harm and professional liability
• Identify strategies to address alert fatigue triggered by EHR systems
