Description:
The eContouring for SBRT/Spine Cancer Case Library contains 2 cases, case vingette, and reference documents from cases from the 2017 ASTRO Annual Meeting. These cases give users the ability to practice contouring and to receive a metric score to compare the user's contours to that of expert faculty.
This session will entail the collaboration of two radiation oncologists with expertise in spine SBRT. We will review the anatomy of the spine as well as adjacent critical structures. We will focus on the details of target delineation for intact vertebral bodies. However, there will also be a general overview of applying the same concepts to target delineation for post-operative spine SBRT as well. Consensus contouring guidelines for both situations will be reviewed. The registrants will be provided with the cases as homework. We will review contouring homework and discuss areas of consensus and controversy. Finally we will review our contours for the same cases and allow students to revise their contours with input from the presenters. Review of select audience contours in comparison to the teachers’ contours will be performed for the purpose of teaching and discussion of acceptable vs. unacceptable deviations.
Learning Objectives:
• Identify the anatomic compartments of the spine.
• Contour the CTV and PTV for intact spine SBRT cases and apply these concepts to the post-operative setting.
• Delineate the spinal cord avoidance structure and understand the importance of precise contouring of this organ at risk.
