Activity Summary:
Staff in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) had several concerns about mobilizing patients receiving mechanical ventilation.

Objectives:
• Identify benefits of early mobility in critically ill patients.
• Discuss use of a quality improvement model to improve outcomes in the critical care unit.
• Describe use of an interdisciplinary team to implement early mobility in the critical care unit
