This activity discusses the causes and mechanisms of stroke in young adults, as compared to the elderly population. Young adults often require specialized diagnostic techniques and testing to confirm the diagnosis and cause. Treatment of strokes in this group of patients, and prevention of secondary strokes, are key, as these patients have many decades of potential life expectancy remaining.
