OVERVIEW

Diabetic Hypoglycemia: Recognizing the Under-Recognized (Interactive Global Map) is organized by Springer Healthcare IME.

Description:
Diabetic hypoglycemia is significantly under-reported and under-recognized on a global scale. We talked to experts from around the world to hear their views and to gain deeper insight into the reasons why such a disparity exists between real-world prevalence and randomized controlled trial data on hypoglycemia in people with type 1 and 2 diabetes.

Results and opinions vary across the countries but there are also key similarities. This map has been created from interviews with clinicians and researchers addressing the situation in their local area, and discussing what they think can be done to reduce the burden of this important, but often neglected complication.

We asked the same questions to all contributors:
• Does the real-world data reflect your experience of hypoglycemia prevalence in clinical practice?
• How big an issue is a hypoglycemia in people with type 2 diabetes in your region?
• What do you think is the main factor that needs to change/improve to reduce the burden of hypoglycemia in your region?
